It is located along the eastern Venetian walls and takes its name from the church bearing the same name that stands nearby. It is one of the four main access gates to the Upper Town of Bergamo, together with Porta San Giacomo, Porta Sant&#8217;Agostino and Porta Sant&#8217;Alessandro. Its original structure dates back to the 16th century, and it has been restored and preserved over the years. In addition, there is a plate on the fa\u00e7ade of the gate commemorating Garibaldi&#8217;s arrival on the 8<sup>th<\/sup> of June 1859.
