I'm Cristina: tourism has always been my calling

I’m Cristina, co-founder and owner of Bergamo By Tuk Tuk. I didn’t end up in tourism by chance or after a career change—this has been my path since 1995, when I earned my Tourism Operations qualification at the IPSSCT Betty Ambiveri school in Ponte San Pietro.

Tour planning, marketing and customer service are subjects I studied from a young age and continue to put into practice every day in the profession I love.

From Lake Garda to the streets of Bergamo Alta

In 2010, together with my husband Mirco, I founded a tourist passenger transport business on Lake Garda.

The following year, I earned my Licensed Passenger Boat Operator qualification, officially authorising me to operate public passenger transport on inland waterways. This qualification allowed me to work professionally in lake transport for more than ten years.

Those years shaped me in every way. I learned what it means to create a truly personalised tourism service, paying attention to every detail of the guest experience and ensuring that every visitor feels welcomed, involved and part of the journey—not simply transported.

Since 2023, that same experience—together with the qualifications I have earned over the years, including A, B and KB driving licences and my registration with the Register of Drivers for Taxi, Chauffeur (NCC) and Tuk Tuk services in the Province of Bergamo—has become the foundation of Bergamo By Tuk Tuk, the business I proudly run every day as its owner and Tuk Tuk driver.

Qualifications and licences

Tourism Operations qualification (1995/96) — IPSSCT Betty Ambiveri, Ponte San Pietro (Bergamo).
Licensed Passenger Boat Operator since 2011 — qualified to operate and provide public passenger transport on inland waterways.
Registered with the Register of Drivers for non-scheduled public transport services (Taxi, Chauffeur (NCC) and Tuk Tuk services) in the Province of Bergamo since 2024.
A, B and KB driving licences.

Career path

After earning my tourism qualification in 1995, I began building my professional experience across different fields—from customer service and the insurance sector to nearly ten years as a switchboard operator and administrative manager at Chiesa di Bergamo, a long-established company specialising in plumbing, heating and bathroom solutions. During those years, I developed strong skills in customer and supplier relations, workflow organisation, and balancing the operational and commercial sides of a business. In 2010, I brought that hands-on experience—built on precision, problem-solving and attention to people—into my new entrepreneurial venture in tourist passenger transport on Lake Garda. It remains the foundation of everything we do today at Bergamo By Tuk Tuk.
