Meet Mirco, the ‘tukers’ driver for Bergamo By Tuk Tuk
I was born in Bergamo in 1971 and fell in love with this city – its narrow streets and its stories – long before it turned into my job. Today, I am a tour leader and a Guida Ambientale Escursionistica GAE – Interpretive Nature Guide, qualifications I obtained by passing the relevant exams set by the competent regional public institutions.
I am also a registered driver for non-scheduled public transport services and an authorised vehicle operator and driver in the provinces of Bergamo and Brescia. My reliability and professionalism when I drive the Tuk Tuk are not just a minor detail; they are the foundation on which I have built everything else.

From the helm of a boat to the steering wheel of a Tuk Tuk
My career did not begin in tourism. For almost twenty years I worked in a technical sector: from 1990 as a technical sales representative in electronics, then for almost fifteen years at EVlaser, a Bergamo-based manufacturer of industrial and medical laser systems, where I progressed from technical support to warehouse management and head of procurement.
It was a job that taught me precision, problem-solving skills and an eye for detail – qualities that I still rely on today when leading our tours.
In 2010, together with my wife, I set up a tourist passenger transport service on Lake Garda, which we ran successfully for over ten years. And it was there that I discovered my true passion: helping people discover a region, telling its story, and guiding them through a unique, truly immersive experience, rather than simply providing transport.
Since 2023, this new professional venture has become a reality and it is now called Bergamo By Tuk Tuk.

The expertise and guarantees you can really rely on
When you hop on a Tuk Tuk with me, you’re not just getting on an iconic and unique vehicle: you’re travelling with someone who has also placed safety and expertise at the heart of their training and profession. I hold A, B, KB, D and E driving licences, as well as a CQC certification for passenger transport, and I am registered with the relevant professional organisations for non-scheduled public transport services.
Furthermore, the Tuk Tuks are registered for third-party use, they undergo annual inspections as required by the law, and they are covered by an insurance for professional and public service use with high compensation limits.
I have been trained in BLSD first-aid techniques and I remain constantly up to date in this area. I have attended courses on the use of AEDs.
In addition to this, I have a technical background that has always been a part of my life: I am passionate about mechatronics and automotive systems, and I have the expertise, training and certification required to carry out routine maintenance on the electric Tuk Tuks we use, independently.
My personal curiosity, my love for my city, and the fact that I was born and brought up here, allow me today to show and tell the story of a unique, unprecedented and surprising Bergamo.

Why I chose the Tuk Tuk
I’m passionate about motorbikes, but above all about tricycles and motorised tricycles such as the Ape Calessino, an iconic vehicle with an unrivalled agility, which I would describe as having ‘a soul of its own’.
Tuk Tuks are vehicles with a character and a personality of their own, and they allow you to experience the city in a different way – at a slower pace and in closer contact with thepeople. A truly immersive, 360° experience.
With Bergamo By Tuk Tuk, I have combined this passion with my experience as a tour leader: every itinerary I offer comes from a desire to help you discover an authentic corner of my city, with the same care that I have put into the technical details of my previous jobs for years.

Professional qualifications

Career path
After almost thirty years working in technical sectors — electronics, mechatronics and automotive systems — in 2010 I started a business with my wife providing tourist passenger transport by water. That’s where my passion for guiding tourists began, and in 2023 it became Bergamo By Tuk Tuk: a new, authentic and carefully designed way to help people discover Bergamo, my hometown.
